Silversprings
Gin Sen Karate Do - Sensei and Instructors
In Martial Arts it is all
important that you follow the teachings of your Sensei (translates
to: 'a teacher'), and the guidance of your Senior Instructors.
Below you can familiarise yourself with the names, faces and
levels of ability of Silversprings Sensei and Instructors.
Senior Instructor - Joe Glavin
Joe Glavin:
A Yondan (4th Dan) black belt and Senior Instructor at Silversprings Karate. Highly experienced in competitive Karate, he attended the JSKA World Championships 2006 in New York as assistant coach to Paul Allan. Joe represented Gin Sen at the training camp.
Chief Instructor 'Emeritus': Sensei Paul Allan 7th Dan Shotokan
Sensei Allan:
On the 31st of July 2010 Sensei Paul Allan officially withdrew from being
the frontline Instructor at the Silversprings Dojo. Handing this
responsibility over to Joe Glavin, his long time Kohai.
Sensei Allan said, " I am delighted that my students have asked me to adopt the role of Chief
Instructor Emeritus. This will enable me to stay in touch with the dojo and
to assist and guide the Seniors. I have issues with both my knees as a
result of 40 years of Karate and 30 years of skiing. I am now able to
concentrate on my own studies of the Martial Arts and to practice in a way
that will not aggravate my problems. The seniors will visit the small dojo
at my home, regularly, for training and Instructor development. I will
continue to be closely involved with my many Karate friends around the
globe but I am re-positioning myself so that I have no political
involvements. My enthusiasm for Karate and the Martial Arts remains the same, in terms of Shu Ha Ri - I believe I am somewhere between Ha and Ri. I would
like to thank all the people who have supported me in making this difficult
decision."
